Department of Synthetic Human Body System,

      This laboratory was established on February 1, 2025. We aim to generate a synthetic human body system that can be applied to drug discovery research, etc., by utilizing iPS cells, organoids, and organ-on-a-chips (MPS). By faithfully reproducing human physiological functions, it is expected that the elucidation of disease pathogenesis and the search for therapeutic drug candidates can be carried out efficiently. Such synthetic human body system is attracting attention as innovative tools that can be applied to various disease research. 
     Currently, our laboratory is focusing on research on respiratory infections such as COVID-19 and RS virus infection using human respiratory models. We are also actively working on the development of human liver, gut, and blood-brain barrier models and their application to drug discovery. By combining stem cell biology and microengineering-based technologies, we aim to accelerate research on various diseases, including infectious diseases, and contribute to the development of new therapeutic drugs. 
     


 

     We look forward to the participation of undergraduate students, graduate students, technical staff, and postdocs. We are always looking for collaborative research, regardless of whether it is in academia or in companies, so please feel free to contact me.
